Parlor Observation Car Number 64, of the Oahu Railway & Land Co., seen here at Waialua Station on the North Shore, has been fully restored and is actually now available for rides and special events, like parties. Among its more notable OR&L guests were Queen Lili`uokalani and other members of the Hawaiian royal family. It also transported

William Howard Taft, future 27th US President, and Alice Roosevelt, daughter of  President "Teddy" Roosevelt,

when they came to Hawaii and stayed at Dillingham's beautiful Haleiwa Hotel in 1905.

The parlor car was fitted with a galley, lavatory, washstand and sideboard. Interior materials were Oak, Mahogany and Birdseye Maple and the car was, needless to say Dillingham's "baby" and a true Classic of Hawaii Railways.

The HRS has rebuilt open air passenger cars which are part of their collection of ex-Army flatcars which were

originally built in the 1940's. These flatcars hauled many tons of supplies and infantry soldiers around Oahu who were in training for later Pacific Island invasions, and also to Army Air Fields along Oahu's North Shore where P-40

Tamahawks, P-38 Lightnings and B-25 Mitchell Bombers were based.

Not to also mention that- you are actually riding on the very SAME rails that was Oahu's OR&L! This track goes back to the very early 1900's and it's entire history which literally built the wealth and infrastructure of the entire county of Oahu.
